Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everybody!!!!!!!

I had an awesome christmas morning, got a new computer, I have been without one for so long now, since august! I can blog again!

I just wanted to say that I am truly appreciative that I have a family and friends that fully exude the christmas spirit through all their actions. Christmas is about love, and hope, and faith, and sharing, and cherishing the little things... and all of those are necessary in this world we are living in right now - most of all hope.

I hope that everyone had an amazing time with their family, and those who don't have families find joy some how.

Sincerely,

Casey

Berryblossom White

This is a multimedia illustration of tea.

Self Portraits

These are some self portraits in ink.

Deisgn Project

In this project we had to choose a color scheme (I chose the analogous scheme of Orange, yellow-orange, yellow, and yellow green) and do 5 separate paintings on the same canvas. We had to leave windows in each painting "layer" so that the previous layers showed through.

Art

SO! I have been uber busy with some art projects lately! My design class is so hard, its all conceptual and mechanic and it is really hard to be expressive in that class. I feel like a robot - but a creative one, its strange. I have also been doing self portraits in my Drawing and composition class. I shall post some pictures!

I registered for my classes for next semester today - I am taking Computer Graphics, Photography I, and Art History I for my art classes, and for English classes I am taking Advanced Expository Writing, and American Literature in the 1900's. Sounds like a good semester!

Love love!

Minnesota Who?

I was at work during the steelers game today. Luckily there is a bar across the hall in the little plaza i work in and I was watching teh game from the door to the bar. Vikings are no longer undefeated. I love this day. Sacked favre with 00:00 left ont he clock. Never comprimse - not even int he face of Armageddon. That is a quote from Watchmen. I see the Steelers as Rorschach (the best most badass (excuse me) character in it). Peace Frogs out!

Falling Slowly

My favorite thing to do now is to lay in the sunroom with the doors open and the lake breeze blowing and listen to the song falling slowly by Glen Hansard.

Classes

Now that I have been in classes that only last 50 minutes like my English classes it is hard for me to sit through a two hour class. This school is giving me ADD. Also, the food drain runs from the cafeteria down through Kenan into the disposal septic tank thing, and it has been clogged up and the food is rotting and getting into the air condition units. This causes the entire building to smell like death. I almost skipped class today just so I did not have to smell it.

At Work

September is so slow, nicole and I jsut saw a boy try to ollie up the curb in front of our window and fell! It was one of those moments where we laughed, and then after we had our chortle we were concerned for his safety. Yesterday I saw a unicylclist (is that a word?) ride past the window; this was odd in itself, but it was immediately followed by a 30 year old man on a skateboard! Its moments like those where I love St. Augustine for her obscurity.

Nicole is practically asleep on the couch in our store as I type this... and I have made 2 sales in the 2 hours I have been here. Thanks for your time.

PEACE!

Nocturnal

I think i may be nocturnal. I was making paper mache piniatas last night at like 11 o clock. Then, natrually, I was in a creative mood so I started writing a short story. By 3 o clock a.m. i decided that I was going to write a novel, a picturesque tale of a small town girl with bigger dreams. That was my 3 o clock a.m. creativity explosion. So I joined an online writer's community where writer's can publish things and have thier peers review and rate them. By 5 a.m. i had one page done and it was beautiful outside so I decided to go into my backyard and sit by the lake and write. Upon seeing the beauty of the sun rise over the lake I had to include it in my story of course. It is funny how creativity works that way, it depends on stream of conciousness thinking. I Talked about how the ripples erupted into a frenzy of motion then slowly and gracefully dissapted back into the glassy stillness of the water's surface; and how the only sounds that could be heard were those of distant bicycle bells, and nesting birds waking up to greet the warmth of a new day. By 7 a.m. the sun was fully up and was hurting my eyes so I went back into my room. There it was cold and dark and my bunk bed feels like a fortress so I changed my mind completely and wanted to write a medieval tale of chivalry and romance! Then i got tired... so now I am goign to sleep and probably not writing a novel. Sorry. good night.

Comic-con

I have been trying to keep up with the goings-on at the Comic-Con (Comic book convention) this year. It is a gathering of all people who enjoy submerging themselves into a world built on imagination and creativity; basically I have always wanted to go. They have announced (via an interview with Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man) that the preview for Iron Man 2 will air when Sherlock Holmes comes out; at CHRISTMAS! That is so far away it is depressing. BUT, they did release the new teaser trailer for Tron: Legacy, starring jeff Bridges himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6jfm0hq0bk that is the link to the preview. Also on august 9th the movie entitled 9 is being released, which I am very excited for. In film club in high school we watched the short film entitled 9, which this film is based on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnoJecu9e7c there's the trailer for that one. Then, there is, of course, the new Quinten Tarentino movie which will be brilliant of course. Starring Brad Pitt (yum!) it is called Inglorious Bastards: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sQhTVz5IjQ, and there is the trailer for that one.
Okay, earlier I mentioned the new Sherlock Holmes movie starring Robert Downey jr. (Iron Man, Chaplin, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, etc.) and Jude Law (Slueth, Closer, Cold Mountain, etc.) and the director is Guy Ritchie! How awesome! During the interview Robert Downey was asked why he thought Guy Ritchie was the perfect director for this movie and he said "Well Guy Ritchie is a bad-ass, and a gentlmen, and Sherlock Holmes is a bad-ass, and a gentlemen so there you have it." I think that this is, by far, going ot be the best movie of the year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUQbmFAE5WI and that is the one for Sherlock.
Sorry to tuen my blog into a review forum but I am ust so ecited! enjoy!

Un-professional is the new professional

Tonight Greg, Sarah, Josh Funk, and myself are goign to a wine and sangria bar called Cellar 6. We are meeting my new boss there, his name is Josh and he is from California. Today he moved from the hostel to a boat house in hidden harbor. He is basically your steryotypical california hippie (which makes sense seeing as how he opened a store called peace frogs). I am excited to hang out because I have always been friends with my managers - and have never really had a professional relationship. For instance, when I worked at Boater's World i would go spear fishing with my managers, and i went to a fourth of July party where they set off illegal fireworks and shot illegal guns... Im not goign to name any names (Devon). I don't really see the point in having a strictly professional relationship with someone you work with. You see them everyday, you are with them for extended periods of time, if you have nothign to talk about but work it gets awkward. I enjoy people, and getting to know them, and usually it is not what they expect from an employee but I have made some really good friends that way. I also don't beleive in changing the way you act when you are at work. When I worked at Panera I was known for singing (very badly) while I did the dishes or opened bakery; for the folks who came in everyday they enjoyed me and Tori being goofballs. I think that they deal with enough fake people all day that having someone be genuine (goofy and loud or not) is really refreshing.

I know that when I go to a resturaunt I love it wen the waitresses ask me about my day or joke around with us. LIke when a group of us went to chili's every saturday last semeester the waitressess all loved us. I like having a personal connection. My bigest pet peeve is when someone says "Hello, welcome to *insert resturaunt here* how are you today?" without ever looking up from thier clipboard or cash register. Ew.

It may seem un-professional, but i find that in the long run it is much more rewarding and you get alot more out of a job than money and references when you are friendly to people,; maybe you could make someone's day by simply singing a bad rendition of "don't stop believing".

Why Irish men Know best

" It is through art, and through art only, that we can realize our perfection; through art and art only that we can shield ourselves from the sordid perils of actual existence. "

-Oscar Wilde

Mango Mango

The mangos that my dad gave me are finally all ripe! I ate one this morning for breakfast out by the lake (in my backyard), it was beautiful! I love when the sun rises and the lake glows with an orangy-pink hue. Skip and Sue were in town this weekend, as was Mike's cousin Janelle and her husband Tyler. I gave Janelle and Tyler thier first surfing lesson on saturday and Tyler actually was able to stand up! Janelle was a professional of riding the board in on her belly (which is also considerably enjoyable). It was Tyler's first trip to Florida, let alone St. Augustine. After the skies had rained out thier 13 odd tons of water we walked down St. George and went to Stoagies (A Cigar and coffee bar). There was live music, it was breezy, and you could taste the salt on the air. It was the perfect Florida night.
Also, my good friend Joni was in town from Jacksonville and stayed over at my house last night. She has never read or seen the Harry Potter movies so I introduced her to those last semester. We went to see the new one and I had to explain basically everything to her (but since I ma a huge nerd and a little bit obsessed with Harry Potter - I had no problem doing so.) It was a fun weekend. I called the owner of a resturaunt called O.C. Whites to see if I could start working before August 15th (that is when I start at Peace Frogs), but I have yet to hear back from them. Fingers crossed!
Tonight MIke and I are going old school and busting out the game cube games; Luigis Mansion! I have not played it in a while and I am excited. The boys are finally all moved in and organized and thier house looks pretty snazzy.
Alright, that is all for now. Love and peace.

Jobby Jobs

Today I went to my job interview at the Spanish Galleon. It went very well. The owners are a couple that live above it; they are really sweet and they made me a hazelnut coffee that was DELICIOUS! Mike and I are going to try and help them get thier name out there within our own epartments at Flagler. They really want to help out the students at Flagler and give student discounts and whatnot - they are genuinly good people. I will probably start as soon as the students start coming back to Flagler and business pickes up for them.
I also got a job at Peace Frogs, the new life is good associate store. There are peace signs and frogs everywhere!!!! I love it! The owner will be back on August 15th, right now it is his cousin setting up for him, I can't stat working there until then but he basically told me I got the job. I am excited to start making my own way!

Tidbits

I saw a dog today, walking alone, collorless down my street. I tried to get him to come over to me but he was scared and kept jumping away. I left water in a plastic bowl out for him on the curb but he has not returned. I miss him.

Sunday, July 12, 2009

OH! I forgot! I have a job interview tomorrow at a small coffee shop called The Spanish Galleon. I am excited about that. I love coffee, Spainiards, and galleons! Its perfect! :)

New House

I am officially all moved into the pink house of 115 Washington street. Although, I have moved away from my home of 19 years (and that should probably terrify me); I can't help but feel elated and excited to take this leap of faith (and money). Miranda and Sarah are here and we are getting along nicely: watching Harry Potter, eating yummies, complaining about the heat. We always complain about the heat until it gets even remotely cold, and by cold i mean less than 65, when it hits that time I immediatly long for the sweat you get from standing still. Speaking of sweating... I attempted to clean the bottom of the pool today. It has been collecting pollen for some time and while I love the flowering plants that surround it - they constantly deflower in the pool drain! Seeing as I was home alone and did not know where the srub brush was I decided to use a dust brush. You know, one of those little ones that comes clipped into the dust pan? Yeah... that did nto go so well. I had to wear my diving weights in order to stay down on the bottom of the pool long enought to scrub anything; it was quite humorous.
I also helped Mike and Greg move into thier new house "Lemmonmon" today. We moved all thier big furniture and it is looking good. I am quite jealous of all thier wall paper; each room has a different and unique print. Greg's room has a lovely floral with a light dimmer, ambiance!
Well bloggy, that is all for now. Goodnight world!
